The 2016 IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial service will be broadcast live via streaming video on Saturday, September 17. The ceremony in Colorado Springs, Colorado, which officially begins at 11:00 a.m. (Mountain Time) 1 pm Eastern Time, will honor 123 IAFF members (21 of whom are from our District) who died in the line of duty and were reported to the IAFF in the last year.

The lack of assessment tool available from Fire Marshall putting communities at risk.
The Government of Ontario has created a risk-based assessment tool that communities can use to evaluate fire services but it isn't working properly, Simcoe-Grey MPP Jim Wilson said in the Ontario Legislature yesterday. Wilson asked the government if it will put a hold on the use of the current tool, and consult firefighters and develop a tool that will keep communities safe.

The Firefighters of Sault Ste. Marie and City Council are in a battle over public and firefighter safety due to staffing cuts. A Special Town Hall Meeting was held to inform the public.
